oh my darling clementine

ok, so this is my first entry i'm actually posting on johnguari.com. excellent!

yesterday was a great friday. i woke up, listened to some Johnny Griffin and Stan Getz in Jazz Records. as a result, "Girl From Ipanema" has been stuck in my head. it's like i'm in an elevator or something.

"No one expects Gilberto...no one!" - Mike Reading on the placement of Astrud Gilberto on mixes.

after jazz records i went to my lesson. it was pretty good. my lip slurs are getting slightly better. we're looking at the allegro from the Flor Peeters trumpet sonata, which i shall do for juries.

the afternoon was filled with laundry, watching The Rundown with Seann William Scott and The Rock (ridiculous movie), and more Chapelle's Show.

after returning to my room, i had my RA nate help me with the burned out lightbulb we had in our room.

then i watched Sockbaby and Sockbaby 2. view them.

at 6:30, rhonda and shannon picked me up and we met a bunch of people at Cici's Pizza. Teresa and Julia gave me a Katy, TX t-shirt for me to send to Katy Fiedler and also this present:

apparently someone accosted them in New Orleans or something and they got this book. this is significant because i was with Teresa and Julia when i got suckered into getting a "free" Bhagavad Gita for $3.00. man, and it wasn't even handed out by a pot-smoking girl named Kate (points for the first person to comment on what i'm referencing).

Cici's pizza was great. i made fun of Franklin for having this shirt with all these fish on it. i said quite loudly that he "looked like someone's dad." i was almost immediately informed that there was an actual father with a fish shirt sitting right behind me. laughter ensued.

then we went to the Rave theatre to go see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. for me it was my 2nd time, but for everyone else, it was their first. i really enjoyed the film the 2nd time and everyone else enjoyed it as well.

after the movie, rhonda, shannon and i went to Starbucks in Barnes and Noble and discussed various literature.

we then went to Maple Hall and comandeered Franklin's bed until he kicked us all out. i then proceeded to sleep on an foam egg crate thing on Rhonda and Shannon's floor.

No, John, we talked about literature. And you're referring to "Kate" from Whatever and Ever Amen. I most likely could have told you that even if I didn't know the lyrics to the song. Posted by: Shannon at March 27, 2004 01:11 PM

[Insert hilarious comment about hummus and pita here. Also about Caitlin Rogers and how she's the greatest.] You will note, Mista G, that I have a URL, and that that URL is a link to my livejournal. It's pretty lame, but I feel as though you ought to know (that I've been good, as good as I can be. And if you do, I'll trust in you, and know that you will wait for me.) You will get points from me if you can name THAT song. Posted by: Emilia at March 27, 2004 11:06 PM

They make T-shirts with Katy, TX on them now? I grew up right next to Katy and it was never exactly a tourist mecca... Posted by: Kev at March 28, 2004 01:40 AM
nope. not a tourist thing, more like a high school t-shirt type thing Posted by: john at March 28, 2004 11:08 AM
Dear John,
First, I could not be more excited for that shirt!!!
Second, I'm loving the "Kate" song.
Third, Cici's pizza is THE BEST! I especially loved unison chorus of "Hi, welcome to Cici's!" upon entering.
Fourth, I think "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" was great too! Very conceptual!
Fifth, I missed you over break and I forgot how very funny you are! Remember when I ran to your house to watch "Yatta"?! Crazy crazy times!
Love,
Katy Posted by: Katy F'in at March 28, 2004 10:35 PM
