john, have i not made it clear that I HATE YOU! if i find a slot of time more than 15 minutes i will write you a detailed reasoning on the matter at hand, but while i don't, i still just hate you and your lack of standards.
"Into the Groove" is wicked awesome. It reminds me of my dancing days...I mean beating every kid up days.
Vogue is obviously the superior in this situation. First of all, Mr. Guari, the issue of how ‘old school’ the songs are is weak. Both are old school and just because Into the Groove is three years older does NOT make it superior. Are there not people who are three years older than you that you’re superior to in some way? The age difference is not big enough to have an effect on the quality of Madonna’s music. The music did not start to lose its unique appeal until around the time Bedtime Stories was released (in my eyes anyway). Both songs are featured on the Immaculate Collection so I think the old school argument can officially be dropped.
Both songs are about dancing. Get Into the Groove’s dancing is for the purpose of falling in love. What an absurd way to fall in love. Now I know about your standards, or lack thereof, but I don’t think a dance or two would woo me. Vogue uses dancing and throws all kinds of good messages at us. It is mainly about finding a way to escape the monotony and pain of everyday life. The song isn’t just happy, it’s INSPIRING. We’re hearing that we can improve ourselves if we can just find an outlet. It doesn’t matter who you are, “you’re a superstar, yes that’s what you are, you know it”. Vogue encourages you to look inside yourself for inspiration and let your dreams ‘open up the door’.
Of course, I can’t forget the tribute to divas of the past. (Men can be divas too.) They’re the people who took dancing to another level and really let themselves glow. That’s what happens when someone really feels beautiful when they dance; they glow. Trust me.
Beauty's where you find it
Not just where you bump and grind it
Soul is in the musical
That's where I feel so beautiful
Magical, life's a ball
It’s not about love or sex. It’s about finding your own real, glowing beauty. Quite frankly John, I’d much rather be dancing to make myself feel beautiful than to find some puppy dog boyfriend.
"into the groove" is six years older than "vogue." do your research.
