arr. john guari

hearing your own arrangements being played IN REAL LIFE is awesome!

i just got done recording my arrangement of the Tadd Dameron tune, "Lady Bird."

i had to re-copy a bunch of music to make it prettier this evening, and i realized i'll have to re-re-copy some of it tomorrow so that it fits the very specific parameters.

things discovered today:

  • making nice looking eighth note tails is harder than it looks
  • the Staedtler Mars plastic eraser is indeed the best eraser of all time
  • repeat brackets/bar lines are important to write in, if you want music to be repeated

so i've pretty much gotten all the hard stuff out of the way as far as the arrangement goes. music is still the best. arranging is a lot of hard work, but it is extremely fun to hear it all play out the way i heard it in my head.

EDIT: "Arr. John Guari" refers to the complete phrase "Arranged by John Guari," though i neither deny, nor confirm any pirate connections.
