trumpet pendulum
so far this week has been pretty good as for how i feel about my trumpet playing. did my scales test in lessons, no biggie, seeing as jazz kids not only need to know 3 minors and 1 major, we also need like a bajillion other scales too. i managed to pick all the A-flat scales in the bag though. i was thinking about going into why it's harder to play A-flat, but i won't. thank me later.
i got a compliment from someone i'm not accustomed to getting compliments from. it was unexpected and good.
i sounded all right tuning-wise in lab band yesterday. hopefully it will keep on going.
OH MAN
also, i know kids from Minnesota remember this game, but i don't know if Texas kids know "Oboe Shenatintatin" or however it is spelled. i feel like a total dork every time i ask someone about it.
i need feedback about "Oboe Shenatintatin." memories. comment. NOW!

oh john how i love "oboe shinatintatin"! what a great camp/anywhere/anytime game! i try to suggest the playing of this game at most occassions. it's a fun ice breakers especially here at luther, because so many midwesterners know it. power to the people.
I once killed a man playing that game. He had it coming to him.....what with the touching my hand and that laugh...oh that laugh...
Back in 5th grade, when it was required to be in choir, before the concerts all of us met up in our gen ed classrooms, and for some reason the teacher had to be there. So all of my 5th grade class gathered in our classroom before the concert, but our teacher wasn't there. What happened? We played a 26-person game of oboe shinatintatin (which was pretty intense), and when the teacher finally showed up, she was (direct quote here) "proud of us for playing a game together"... which was the oddest thing she ever said, as our class played games like none other.
