longest day ever

since my last entry included an ordered list, i'll have this one include an unordered list, though order shall be followed.

my Wednesday, March 31 2004 A.D. went like this:

  • 9:00AM Jazz Records
  • 10:00AM Jazz Fundamentals II
  • 11:00AM Aural Skills II
  • 12:00PM Trumpet Departmental
  • 1:00PM Piano Skills III
  • 3:30PM Concert Band
  • 5:00PM Lesson
  • 7:00PM Lab Band
  • 8:45PM Steel Band
  • 9:30PM Watched 4 and 5 o'clock at the Syndicate

now i'm done. it was quite taxing. it's all downhill from here. tomorrow i have a light load, and friday's load is even lighter still.

oh and just let me put this bait out on the hook:

"Into the Groove" is a better song than "Vogue."

discuss.

P.S. that chainsaw guy was at it again today, but i was already awake when he started.

revengeance

i've had a list of grievances against shannon and rhonda. as of late, mostly just shannon, but here are the grievances.

  1. Rude awakening by way of snowballs in my bed
  2. Turning my mattress, chair and Super Mario RPG poster upside down
  3. Throwing powdered sugar on me right after I'd finished taking a shower (shannon only).
  4. Getting kicked in the jumblies (shannon only).

Franklin Parker had suffered grievance number 3 as well. we vowed to have our revenge, our vengeance and quite possibly our revengeance.

that revengeance came today.

after an hour and a half of frisbee fun today, we ate dinner at around 6:00. Shannon and Rhonda came in the Bruce Hall Cafeteria at about 6:10. Franklin and I had finished our food already. Shannon set her keys and ID on the table and went to get food. my eyes widened. both roommates in Bruce Hall? keys to the room left unattended? the choice was simple. i removed her room key from its spot on the keyring and Franklin and I quickly made our way out the door and towards Maple Hall.

Franklin and I utilized flour and a small bit of powdered sugar on Shannon and Rhonda's bedding, clothing, chair and floor. I spelled "got you" on the floor with flour and prominently displayed her key inbetween the two words. Franklin wrote "Welcome home. What goes around..." on their whiteboard. we returned to Bruce Hall and Shannon and Rhonda were none the wiser until they went to their room.

apparently shannon quickly planned her re-retaliation against Franklin and has since used shampoo and shaving cream on several of his belongings. i have not suffered such a fate.

"The day is mine, Trebek!"

no better time

To the man in the courtyard next to my window:

What is so important that you need to be using a CHAINSAW in the courtyard at 8:30 AM?

Sleepily,

i don't get it

i was browsing through the Apple website when i came across this article.

"Who cares if the 15-GB iPod costs just $50 more? Everyone interviewed at Macworld who had seen the mini had been charmed by its glamour. The specs didn't matter; they had to have one, and the cost be damned."

"The mini, available in five colors from pink to gold, is a fashion accessory. The Dell DJ is not."

15GB iPod: $299.00
4GB iPod Mini: $249.00
15GB Dell DJ: $199.00
20GB Dell DJ: $249.00

even if you just buy the iPod over the iPod Mini, you get 3.75 times more space for only fifty dollars more.

am i the only one this doesn't make complete sense to?

it is 72 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny, with a 5 MPH wind from the south souf.

rhonda, shannon and i just threw the frisbee around for a while. my throws are coming along well.

i'm working on a title graphic for this page that will have a couple things added. Q is helping me out with all this. big props to him.

oh tell me if these colors look all right or anything else. suggestions are good.

weekend of one thousand movies

in addition to the jersey trilogy last night, Ben, Shannon, Paxton (who's that) and i watched Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Super Troopers tonight. we split those movies up with a trip to Waffle House.

Chapelle's show was also viewed. go to the comedy central website and watch the Chapelle's Show R. Kelly parody. it's so funny.

okay, so i have 6 weeks left until my freshman year of school is officially done. it's the home stretch. i don't feel too stressed, but that's because it's still the weekend. 2 weeks until Lab Band Madness (marathon concert featuring all the lab bands). this week will be a mess of mixed up practices and make-up lessons.

oh my darling clementine

ok, so this is my first entry i'm actually posting on johnguari.com. excellent!

yesterday was a great friday. i woke up, listened to some Johnny Griffin and Stan Getz in Jazz Records. as a result, "Girl From Ipanema" has been stuck in my head. it's like i'm in an elevator or something.

"No one expects Gilberto...no one!" - Mike Reading on the placement of Astrud Gilberto on mixes.

after jazz records i went to my lesson. it was pretty good. my lip slurs are getting slightly better. we're looking at the allegro from the Flor Peeters trumpet sonata, which i shall do for juries.

the afternoon was filled with laundry, watching The Rundown with Seann William Scott and The Rock (ridiculous movie), and more Chapelle's Show.

after returning to my room, i had my RA nate help me with the burned out lightbulb we had in our room.

then i watched Sockbaby and Sockbaby 2. view them.

at 6:30, rhonda and shannon picked me up and we met a bunch of people at Cici's Pizza. Teresa and Julia gave me a Katy, TX t-shirt for me to send to Katy Fiedler and also this present:

apparently someone accosted them in New Orleans or something and they got this book. this is significant because i was with Teresa and Julia when i got suckered into getting a "free" Bhagavad Gita for $3.00. man, and it wasn't even handed out by a pot-smoking girl named Kate (points for the first person to comment on what i'm referencing).

Cici's pizza was great. i made fun of Franklin for having this shirt with all these fish on it. i said quite loudly that he "looked like someone's dad." i was almost immediately informed that there was an actual father with a fish shirt sitting right behind me. laughter ensued.

then we went to the Rave theatre to go see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. for me it was my 2nd time, but for everyone else, it was their first. i really enjoyed the film the 2nd time and everyone else enjoyed it as well.

after the movie, rhonda, shannon and i went to Starbucks in Barnes and Noble and discussed various literature.

we then went to Maple Hall and comandeered Franklin's bed until he kicked us all out. i then proceeded to sleep on an foam egg crate thing on Rhonda and Shannon's floor.
