eric, cra and i went to see Napoleon Dynamite. they didn't like it as much as i did, but we all agreed that when it was funny, it was HILARIOUS. it's worth a viewing.
after seeing the movie, we went to Cheapo, where i got some CDs.
Atmosphere - Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere EPs
Blind Melon - Blind Melon
Alicia Keys - The Diary of Alicia Keys.
there was a huge wasp at work today. it was in some of the packing peanuts i was using on an order. if i hadn't noticed it, or if it hadn't flown out, i could've sent a wasp to some person. SICK.
ok that's the only interesting thing i got right now.
we're playing the U of M-ish team tonight at Ultimate. i'm pumped.
EDIT: the wasp was about 2 inches long and looked sort of like this

EDIT: this is what a wasp looks like.

emilia and i listened to Rachael Yamagata and the Killers tonight in my car. i think she is/will be hooked by the Killers.
p.s. i talk about the Killers too much, but for good reason
i saw through a link on jetless.org that there is a pretty thorough set of cliff's notes on Donnie Darko.
i must see the director's cut. i hope it comes to a city near me soon, or that the inevitable DVD release is not too expensive.

the official Rilo Kiley Website has new tourdates up. new album out August 17. Rilo Kiley will be playing either Dallas (close) or DENTON (closer) on October 22. which city it is will be announced later. i really hope they don't pull the old 21+ on me for like the thousandth time.
my new life goal is to go on MTV's Room Raiders and make fun of the people who are on that show.

You own a bathing suit. You obviously like going to the beach EVERYDAY. I like that in a girl.

LOL
yesterday i bit my bottom lip while eating a doughnut.
this morning i bit my bottom lip in the same place while eating a doughnut.
OW!
it's almost 4:00 AM and i haven't gone to bed. i'm a little tired, and could probably fall asleep fairly quickly.
it's nice to have the house to myself right now. it's so quiet, and i'm listening to my night time mix, because it is quite appropriate.
i think there must be something in the sun that makes people less emotional. the sun is on the other side of the world right now, and i'm feeling simultaneously glad to be alone, and a little lonely at the same time. it's a strange combination, being technically an introvert, but also a social person. a few years ago, those two things would clash quite noticably. sometimes i wanted to be around people but needed to be alone.
what am i even really talking about right now? i don't think this post has a purpose. i'll probably wake up tomorrow morning afternoon and wonder why i wrote this, and maybe even consider taking it down. why would i take it down? i don't know. i'm not saying anything offensive, or even revealing some deep dark secret to feel embarassed about.
"Waiting in Vain" by Bob Marley has just come up on my mix. the first time i heard this song, it was 2002 i was lying on helen frank's floor. i'd become friends with helen and a gaggle of her friends, some of which i'm very good friends with to this day (emilia and siri). this song makes me a little sad because i was sad when i first heard it. i'd developed what we in the business call a crush on helen frank (did you see how i tried to divert attention from the more personal part of that sentence with the idiom "we in the business?" i am so genius). she'd begun dating this other blah blah blah and blah blah and i was blah blah blah, but you know what? blah blah blah, and sometimes blah blah and that's just how it goes, you know?
i don't know why, but it's easier to talk about things of a personal or deep nature at night. it goes back to the whole sun thing.
do i feel safer in the light, knowing that i can see everything, or safer in the dark, knowing nothing can see me?
more importantly, do i click SAVE or do i click [X]...
click
janine, billy, emilia, gregg holderman and i went to the creamery, then pizza luce, then the uptown theater to see Super Troopers. it was emilia's and gregg's first time seeing the movie. they enjoyed it, and i am glad.
it will be morning soon. time to go sleep through it.
argh! The Killers are coming to The Quest on September 9th. where will I be in September? back in Denton, TX. The Killers have a few shows in TX, but they are in places like Austin on days where i can't possibly know what i have going on until it's probably too late to figure out how to drive there and get tickets on a budget.
i'll see them eventually though, and i anticipate it will be sweet.
last year, i freaked out telling everyone about SpyMob. this year, i think it'll be The Killers. buy the CD, see a show.
i hung out with gregg holderman, who i haven't seen for maybe 3 years or so last night. we're going to see Super Troopers at midnight at the Uptown theatre tonight. he hasn't seen it, and i think he will enjoy it. i know i will.
Drew called me from the airport and said that he saw the Australian Girls Soccer team. i told him to tell them to come over to my house. he said later that they were coming over to my house for a sexy pool party.
problem number one: no pool
problem number two: no sexy
problem number three: they actually didn't come over
WHERE ARE THEY DREW, HUH? YOU LIAR.
this is a mix i made for emilia allen. it's the first one where i used two of an artist's songs at a time. here is the list
Double Diva Doubles Disc
i think she enjoyed it. she got really excited about The Killers, which is great, since they're my favorite new band i've heard this year. i encourage everyone to go buy their CD, Hot Fuss.
leave comments, questions or concerns about this mix in the appropriate sections.
today at work, i pounded down two 20 oz bottles of water to hydrate for the ultimate game later today. i did it right after lunch, and felt like i was gonna throw up. it was a big rush though.
fast as you can
fast as you can
fast as you can
EDIT: ohhhhhhhh 420
Siri and John Hangout Counter: 10 days
in other news, it was hot and humid in MN
Siri and John Hangout Counter: 9 days
i just preordered the 3rd and final Ben Folds EP he's releasing before his full length album. whoop!
life for me is pretty grood right now. work of course is a bummer, but not because the job is bad, but just because i have to do it at all.
on a tip from Phil and corroborating evidence from Drew, i've checked out the band Cursive and in particular their album The Ugly Organ and in particular their song " The Recluse." the rest of the album is good so far from what i've listened to, but "The Recluse" really shines.
so the rest of my summer looks like work, hanging out, and maybe a couple festive parties. i'm hoping that Siri and I can hang out tomorrow so we can push our hangout streak into DOUBLE DIDGE! OHHHH PUNK'D!!
i found a very small mouse at the bottom of my staircase. it's lucky i saw it, because it is dark brown, the carpet is dark red, and it is DARK in my basement. carly and i put it in a shoebox, and now it is running around back in nature.
hey billy. yeah man i got your Of Montreal MP3 CD you lent me a 800,000 years ago. you can have that back and if you want, you can borrow an MP3 CD i have with the Led Zeppelin Box set, as well as Bob Dylan, Gov't Mule and some random blues guy i can't remember.
Siri and John Hangout Counter: 8 days.
i'm still freaking out on OutKast. so far i really like Aquemini and i just DLed ATLiens.
i checked out the Bruce Hall community on the LiveJournal website, to see if i could chat it up with some people at UNT before i go back. sophomore year i predict will be better, but way harder than freshman year. that's my prediction.
EDIT: i also went to Best Buy with drew and ben. i bought Tony Hawk's Underground for Xbox, as well as Almost Famous and Donnie Darko for $10.00 each.
almost famous...yeaaaahhhh
drew, siri and i watched The Butterfly Effect tonight. ben came towards the end, then ben and drew went on a wendy's run. siri and i looked at old prom pictures from 2002 and then ate the wendy's drew and ben retrieved for us. we played Sorry and waited for Emilia and Eddie to come. then we watched Red Dragon. ben and i freaked out in the car talking about the scariest places we could think of.
i didn't go to bed until 4:00 AM last night, and it is almost that time now, but i am not tired. my sleep schedule is going to be MESSED UP for this week.
Prince - Musicology: how could i be a minnesotan and not own a Prince album?
Harvey Danger - Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone?: a good album, and only 3 bucks
Fiona Apple - Tidal: i doubled my fiona today by buying this (read: put out another album, fiona apple)
Young M.C. - Stone Cold Rhymin': RAP RAP RAP. c'mon fatso, just bust a move
N*E*R*D - Fly or Die: the first N*E*R*D CD is really good, and i listened to a little bit of this at school. might as well own it, because ONLY DOWNLOADING AND NOT BUYING MUSIC IS LAME
OutKast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below: going with what was just stated, i downloaded both of these albums last week. how could i not buy them. they are excellent, and OutKast is just miles ahead of anyone in the rap game (and music game in general).
the muscly-armed paperboys won today versus Eden Prairie team Eigen Dich. it was rough, they have a lot of spider-esque guys. tall and long armed. perserverence prevailed.
i drove drew and krissy to Cra Hogle's house, and then picked up Siri (birthday plus one day girl) to go to ben's house for festivities. i met Emilia's friend Eddie there, he seems like a pretty cool dude, and i'll probably see more of him as emilia and i have made quasi-plans to watch the rest of ILT90s.
bah. have work tomorrow. i'll do that, then probably mow the lawn, as it's been a week since its last mowing.
time to shower my grungy, dead skin-covered body.

everyone wish Siri Hellerman a happy twentieth birthday.
OutKast is rocking rapping my feeble world right now.
ILT90s was excellent again. we're getting into the years that were at the pinnacle of my development.
in VG news, i'm playing the best game ever devised by mankind, X-Com. mmm hm.

1990 and 1991 were watched. merriment ensued.
as far as funniness goes between the two most recognizable pundits, Hal Sparks and Michael Ian Black, Sparks is winning.
MIB lagged during 1990 but gained ground back during 1991. hal sparks was all around funny all the time.
[00:08]FruitLooper4Life: nothing about me on your blog yet today
[00:08]FruitLooper4Life: about me PEELING YOUR SKIN
siri hellerman wants to peel my sunburned skin. i am all like OHHH MY GOSSHHHHHHHHH GAG ME WITH A SPOON, I MEAN BARF ME OUUUUUT.
what's going on with the radio today? KDWB is playing Switchfoot and KQRS is playing R.E.M. i'm so confused.
i went up to camp shamineau with nathan and kellen roberts for the express purpose of playing on the blob.

imagine that, except instead of going off the edge, you stay in the middle and try to stay on as long as you possibly can. the person who's been on the longest is the Sachmo [sic].
i have a very cooked-lobster hue on my shoulders and back, due to my negligence towards my skin.
i saw the movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy while in Brainerd. it was bizarre, but humorous.
aloe calls my name.
i need to stop listening to personal, introspective music with pretty melodies late at night.
the killers, jimmy eat world, rachael yamagata, THIS MEANS YOU.
too much thinking, wondering, daydreaming.
go to bed, john.
paperboys played agape groove today. we won, it was a good time.
whatever would lead me to eat half a treatzza pizza and a large misty slush as my dinner. sugar rush is over. CRASH. :(
tomorrow i have a 1/2 hour or so gig at centenial lakes, then who knows what. saturday i'm going up to Camp Shamineau for some blob wars, then i'm back sunday afternoon.
so i did the spiderman biathalon and watched the first spiderman movie on DVD at ben's and went to see Spiderman 2 at southdale. i enjoyed the movies. bah! tobey maguire's peter parker is such a dunce when it comes to the ladies lady. and geez his whole life sucks for most of the movie.
also, russian landlord's skinny daughter? wtf.
ben, drew and i are in the apple store. holy ballz, TJ CROSS WORKS AT THE APPLE STORE.
i just saw jazz pianist Bobby Lyle play at the Dakota. it was great. just a pianist, bassist and drummer.
ever have an annoying itch that won't go away?
this year's independance day was pretty good. i played a $50 $100 gig at city hall for the opening house, which also came with free dilly bar ice cream. i then headed over to cornelia/rosland park to play volleyball, eat burgers, and play The Greatest Game. my body is sore from The Greatest Game.
the Look of Love and the Sorbo abounded.
i happily don't have work today, so i slept in until 12:30. this means i won't be able to fall asleep tonight.
now to find something to do with my time.
for a much more meaningful and picture laden account of the Fourth of July at the park, go to Ben's site.
for the first time in about two weeks i've had a day to just chillax.
i resisted the temptation to watch the I Love the 70s Marathon.
THIS JUST IN: siri hellerman and i are going to watch I Love the 90s together.
anyway, blah blah blah, lazy this lazy that. time to go waste more of my day. most likely playing video games or watching TV
june was a highly acceptable month.
the Muscly Armed Paperboys played Hooniebear 2: the Return of the Dank. today. once again, we were shorthanded. once again, we were beat, but not as bad as before. improvement, yeah!
the week's busyness continues. more frisbee tomorrow and fourth of july gig and barbecue on sunday.
can't think of more things to type about. plus i'm tired and i don't want to keep backspacing to get rid of the numerous typographical errors that i keep typing.
