Wednesday
i woke up, warmed up, and played my departmental with a few minor mess-ups, but nothing horrible. franklin, ben, jennifer what's-her-face and i left in the afternoon, arrived in the evening and chilled. i began reading Miles: The Autobiography.
Thursday
was woken up at what i later found out was 8:00 AM. i ate eggs, bacon and biscuits, and went back to bed. i went over to Franklin's grandparents' house and played pool and drank Dublin Dr. Pepper. the big meal was lunch, and we had turkey, stuffing, all the usual stuff, plus croissants and pumpkin rolls. after the great stuffing, we played Forty-Two, which is a trick-winning dominoes game. We went back to Rancho de Franklin, then played more Forty-Two.
Friday
i slept in, practiced and read more of Miles and played Forty-Two until we went to a local restaurant in town. after eating, we visited Franklin's high school band director and went back to Rancho to get ready for VARMINT HUNTING. i got a raccoon within the first half-hour, and somehow i still maintain my relationship with elizabeth. she's left a stuffed raccoon in my room to remind me of what i've done.
Saturday
i did a lot of reading and finished Miles, as well as practicing, a little transcribing, some review for physics (oh crap i have a test tomorrow) and watched most of Van Helsing, which is a horrible movie.
Sunday
went to Franklin's church in the morning, ate some awesome combination fried crawfish and crawfish etouffee at a restaurant called the Llaneaux in Llano, TX. then i drove back to Denton (with a stop along the way to get four six-packs of Dublin Dr. Pepper) and hung out with Elizabeth.
three more weeks. it's the home stretch.
last week was crap. wednesday was officially the worst day ever.
the blah that was last week is infecting this week, so far. i haven't seen the sun for what seems like one-thousand years. it's been raining for the past week. i just want to see sunlight. maybe i'll see some at Rancho De Franklin.
oh, most of you already have asked, but: no, i'm not coming home for Thanksgiving. I'm going to Rancho De Franklin like i did last year. I'll be home for Christmas (omg like the song) December 17, most likely.
must survive week. must survive playing at departmental. must eat turkey until i explode. must hunt varmints.
oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man
that sugar
leaving my body
bluhhh
i am down, down, downtown, boxy brown.
EDIT:
gah gah gah!
my jaw is twitching a little bit i think.
i just had a slurpee from 7-11. i am on a sugar high like no other! bah i am going to CRASH!
if you'll notice, the whole wednesday column of my calendar in the upper right is blank, because on wednesday i have NO TIME FOR ANYTHING.
i don't really want to enumerate all of what made wednesday sucky, but some keyphrases are: "pouring rain," "left homework in dorm room," "long departmental," "eating lunch in 5 minutes," and "broken water key stopper in flugelhorn."
i chilled out and watched some of the ATHF Vol. 3 with elizabeth.
today has been much better. sleeping in, no homework due in class, a playing test in improv that i did well on, and a brass band concert in which i played quite well.
so i signed up for that whole Facebook deal, since it's offered at UNT now. you can find me if you want to be networked in a big old website that you i will forget about in a few weeks.
so i hooked up XBOX Live yesterday. i dont have a headset, though i may pick one up if the price is right cheap.
i also picked up Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Vol. 3 today. sweet nectar!
You know the drill, folks!
Write on whatever topic,
just make it Haiku.
at her suggestion, i took elizabeth out for a nice dinner at macaroni grill last night. the food was fantastic. i saw my friend jessica there because she works there. she was about to take a picture for a table of girls, and i said "hi jessica," and she accidentally snapped a picture of me. so hey, random table of girls, ENJOY!
now, as is the custom on sundays, i must do all the homework i've neglected the past two days. but not before i have a 3 HOUR rehearsal for brass band in the Winspear Hall.
so like many, many, many others, Halo 2 has been a cruel mistress of mine. not as cruel as one might think, though. granted, i've skipped 4 classes in the last two days (only one of those was for Halo 2), but i haven't binged on it like i was able to in the old days.
i remember in high school and the summer after senior year, i was able to play Halo and Morrowind for multiple hours on end. I don't think i've been able to play Halo 2 for more than 1 1/2 hours before needing an eyeball rest. oh well, moderation.
basically, i still am a big old dork and i'm posting at nearly 3:00 AM because i got sucked into a big CTF on the way back to my room at 1:15.
wort wort wort!
i ate at Victory Hall again today with jamie and elizabeth. the food there is so good, but the atmosphere is so blah. i think it's because the building is so new, and secluded. it's like a prison or something. i like it back at Bruce Hall, with all the nerds and ghosts.
friday was:
funk band rehearsal followed by eating pizza from the Tomato and watching the first half hour of Big Fish
saturday was:
eating pizza from the Tomato (reheated) followed by funk band rehearsal. driving to Mesquite and meeting elizabeth's 'rents, eating chicken, ribs and baked potato, hanging out with some kids, sleeping on air mattress
sunday was:
waking up, eating sausage and biscuits, driving to Denton, subbing in Bruce Hall Big Band, seeing Chick Corea's Three Quartets, watching Treehouse of Horror XV on the Simpsons, introducing elizabeth to Super Smash Bros. Melee
today is: boring classes, dying of anticipation for Halo 2, figuring out if i want to go to Best Buy at midnight or not.
i had a photo tour a little while ago. it was not quite accurate to what a our dorm room usually is like. here is the current state of the room:

this is my "work area." note the musical instruments, as well as music and books strewn about the floor.

laundry i did over the weekend. not put away.

entertainment center/underwear drawer

stones's side of the room. a little more well kempt than mine, but still with instruments strewn.

the only tidy thing in my room. tidy, only because elizabeth made it when i was not in the room.
my work on arranging continued on into this week. last night there was a big recording party in lab east. it started at 8:00 and didn't get done until close to 11:30. yuck. i got done what i needed though, which is worth the time i guess, plus more sight reading is always good.
let's see. things i did this week. hm.
i drove elizabeth to mesquite, TX on tuesday so she could vote. saw her house and abundance of hello kitty paraphernalia.
as far as trumpet playing goes, i'm have a good week this week. sometimes i feel like i can't play anything right, but i've been doing well in lab band. last week was less good, so it's nice to feel like some progress is actually being made.
the weeks go by faster and faster. soon it will be thanksgiving, and i'll be huntin' varmints, and then soon after that, i will be back home for christmas.
Edition later
EDITION:
so i went with elizabeth, jamie, ashley and eventually ross to see Pretty Girls Make Graves and Death Cab For Cutie. both of the shows were good. PGMG did not have a sound check, but they sounded all right anyway. We were at the very front on the right, so there was immediate danger of being hit in the head by the bassist's bass neck.
Gussied up for Halloween
Not an emo crowd AT ALL
most of the songs Death Cab For Cutie played were ones i recognized. i couldn't get many good pictures of the drummer or of the lead singer, because they were in the middle-back and far side of the stage relative to me.
recent events:
this morning there was no whole milk in either of the two dispensers. it's 7:45 AM on a monday. you'd think that the cafeteria should be anticipating HUNDREDS OF HUNGRY MILK-DRINKERS. i had to fill myself with watery-tasting milk. it was not a good way to start my day, and i was grumpy. i since have gotten some whole milk, but it would've been better had i had it from the get-go.
two doors down from me, my neighbors have put this poster up.

if you can't tell, the map shows Senator John Kerry taking the electoral votes from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Canada, and Mexico. The headline on top reads "BREAKING NEWS: John Kerry is the next President of the United States!!"
politics aside, i think that is a pretty funny poster to have on one's door.
