jazz is like the new coke

i saw my lab band results today. i'm in the same lab band (the Five O'clock) but i've been moved to 4th Chair trumpet, which is a jazz chair. this is craziness! the blah of remaining stationary in a band is overcome by the excitement that i get to play solos! i still have 3 semesters here to try and get into the top 3 bands, so i'm going to enjoy being in the Five.

hawt

i went to TheBallParkatArlington Ameriquest Field at Arlington with Kev, today courtesey of his free vouchers. it was hot. it was Texas hot. Twins won in extra innings, which was fun for me.

i came back and crashed, but enough about that, here are some recent happenings.

i had my jazz audition for lab bands. i was pretty relaxed going into it. on the two-octave C scale i cracked the top note, but i think i've done that each time i've auditioned, so i'm not too worried about that. i made it up to F above high C before cracking F#. i'd practiced making it up to G, but it didn't happen, but whatever. F is still good, and i'm not going to be playing lead. i sightread well. there were a few mistakes, but i just plodded on (like you're supposed to) instead of dropping beats and measures (like you aren't supposed to). i played a few choruses of a F-concert blues. i was told i sound better than the last they'd heard me, which is good and got asked to come back and play the improv audition tomorrow (today (sunday)). i'm super excited for this, because it's the first time i've been asked back. i have a feeling that lab band is going to be good this year. i have a feeling a lot of things are going to be good this year, but that i will be super super busy.

assault and battery minus the assault

thankfully, there were no problems involving the mechanic's union and getting my plane to Texas. there was, however a problem with my car's battery. i had it jumped by AAA and took it to Sears Auto Center where it was determined that it was dead. i got a new one, and went to Chili's with Elizabeth, Nate and his new g/f Julie.

after that, i introduced them to Arrested Development, which Ben introduced me to this weekend. they all now know its hilarity!

HUZZAH!

posting has been nonexistent.

on saturday, i drove 4 hours up to Bemidji, MN to see my friend Chris get married. he's younger than i am, and at twenty, is the first of my friends to get married. people tell me it's just going to keep on happening (the "my friends getting married" thing). liesl and i shared the ride back down.

that night, i was a HUGE WINNER at poker, meaning i won two dollars.

yesterday, i bought a Minnesota Twins hat at the Mall of America.
