there are three pillars of good rock music:
the bands that can balance these elements are the bands that i tend to like the most ( Ben Folds/Five, Actionslacks, Spymob, Ozma, Weezer(mostly)).
i want to try and balance these three in my own music.
speaking of, the Pyramid Scheme (the band i'm in) is playing this thursday night at the Clark Grill battle of the bands. huzzah!
i'm off to virginia to visit my grandparents with my mom and sister.
happy tofurkey day!
i saw ben folds tonight. it was my fifth time seeing him and my first time seeing him with a band. it was the best of five shows by far. he really shines with a solid band behind him. he did play a few songs by himself, but they were appropriate ("Brick," "Evaporated.")
for some reason, comments aren't working, not that there's much to comment on lately, i'll see what i can do.
24 is the greatest television show known to man. elizabeth and i just finished the 3rd season, which means we've seen them all.
man, i used to update this site a whole lot, but i've hit quite the dry spell, haven't i?
story:
last month i was issued a citation from a UNT bicycle police officer for "failing to yield right of way to a pedestrian."
i was on my way to city hall to deal with the necessary paperwork, when i was pulled over by a UNT police officer in a squad car. he notified me that two of my brake lights weren't functioning properly. no citation, just a warning.
so i decided to go to the Sears auto center and have them take a look at things and get my oil changed while i was there. they said the problem is electrical and referred me to a place that deals with that sort of thing. UGH. so i'm getting that taken care of tomorrow (hopefully).
TOTALLY LAME.
i ran sound for jazz singers I and II last wednesday, and it was quite the enjoyable experience.
lately i've just been working on getting my first big band original composition done. i've got a preliminary score out in Finale and need to touch it up and do all the articulations and such.
i've been reading Down the Highway: The Life of Bob Dylan and been enjoying it. i've come to the conclusion that bob dylan must have been a hypnotist, people tended to like him despite the fact that he lied, cheated and stole from them.
tomrrow (saturday, nov 5) i'm playing from 7:30PM to 10:30 PM at the Broadway Bistro in Carrolton, TX tomrorow, if anyone is interested in bistro-related food and jazz music!
tonight i'm seeing Stars and Death Cab For Cutie in Fort Worth. huzzah!
number one reason November 2005 is the greatest month in the history of recorded time.
